Basement Waterproofing Cost in Carol Stream, IL
There is no single Carol Stream basement waterproofing price on this page. Each row is a figure copied from the publisher named beside it, with that publisher’s date. A free inspection gives the real number. Prices vary. A free estimate gives the real number.
What drives cost
Length of wall, whether the work is inside or outside, the number of cracks, a new pit versus a pump swap, and access for a dig all move the price. A damp corner is not a full exterior excavation. Fixr, updated February 6, 2026, says most homeowners spend around $5,000, with a common range of $3,000 to $10,000, and about $3 to $10 per square foot. Angi, updated July 20, 2026, says the average is $5,244 and that most homeowners pay $2,461 to $8,205. Those averages are not combined into a new “Carol Stream typical.”
Census Reporter lists a median value of owner-occupied housing units in Carol Stream of $335,000, plus or minus $7,612, from the ACS 2024 5-year estimates. That is housing value. It is not a waterproofing price, and this site does not offer financing.
Read drain tile, crack repair, sump pumps, exterior waterproofing, and foundation repair for the scopes. The flooding guide is the local water story, not a price.

Drain tile per foot
Fixr prints an interior perimeter drain at $40 to $120 per linear foot and an exterior French drain at $10 to $100 per linear foot. Angi prints interior weeping tile at $60 to $120 per linear foot and an exterior French drain at $10 to $100 per linear foot. The interior rows are not the same as the exterior rows. Do not add a Fixr interior price to an Angi exterior price and call it a project total.
Sump and backup
Fixr prints a sump pump at $600 to $2,500. Angi’s waterproofing article prints a sump pump at $1,200 to $2,500. Angi’s sump-installation article, a different page, says the national average installation is $1,100 and that most homeowners pay $800 to $1,500. That article also prints a battery-backup add-on at $1,000 to $2,000 and a water-powered backup at $1,200 to $2,500. A pump price without a backup is not a backup price.
A sump alone is not a waterproofing system. It empties the pit. Tile, cracks, grading, and discharge still matter. DuPage County’s guidebook recommends a battery or generator backup for outages. That recommendation is not a price.
Crack repair
Fixr prints epoxy crack injection at $250 to $1,000 per crack. Angi’s waterproofing article prints epoxy injection at $800 to $1,500 per crack filled. Angi’s foundation article prints foundation cracks at $250 to $800. Three sources, three rows. A single wet crack is not a whole-basement system.
Exterior work
Angi says interior waterproofing averages $3,000 and extensive exterior work averages $7,000, because exterior work skips less of the digging. Fixr says the same thing in prose: exterior costs more because of excavation. Fixr also prints regrading at $500 to $3,000 and sodium bentonite at $2 to $5 per square foot. Use those rows. Do not invent a Carol Stream exterior average by mixing them.
Village permit fees
If your job needs a permit, these are the village’s listed Type C fees for one- and two-family homes. Plumbing is $96. Minor structural modification is $96. Additional inspections are $80 each. Foundation work listed as preliminary work for a principal project is $120. The Type C fee includes plan review, clerical, and inspection. Confirm the scope with Carol Stream Community Development before you apply. The code section does not say that every drain-tile job needs one of these permits.
Fixr says permits often add $75 to $500, depending on the work and the location. Angi’s waterproofing article says permits can range from $75 to $500 or more, and its cost-insights line says $150 to $500. Angi’s sump article says permit fees range from $50 to $250. Those are national publisher ranges. They are not substitutes for the village’s $96 listings, and they are not added on top of the village fee on this page.

FAQ
How much does basement waterproofing cost in Carol Stream?
This page does not print a Carol Stream average. Fixr, updated February 6, 2026, prints a common range of $3,000 to $10,000 and a typical spend around $5,000. Angi, updated July 20, 2026, prints an average of $5,244 and a most-homeowners range of $2,461 to $8,205. Those figures stay with their sources. Prices vary. A free estimate gives the real number.
Why is exterior work more?
It usually means digging. Fixr, updated February 6, 2026, says exterior methods cost more because of excavation. Angi, updated July 20, 2026, prints an average of $3,000 for interior work and $7,000 for extensive exterior work. Those are separate published figures, not a blended Carol Stream price.
Is a sump pump alone enough?
A sump empties the pit. It does not seal a crack, extend a downspout, or stop a creek from coming through a window. Drain tile, discharge location, and a backup for power outages are the rest of the system. DuPage County’s guidebook recommends a battery or generator backup. Prices for the pump and the backup are separate rows above.
Do permits add much?
If the job needs a Carol Stream Type C permit, plumbing is listed at $96 and minor structural modification is listed at $96, with additional inspections at $80 each. Confirm the scope with Community Development. Fixr and Angi also print wider national permit ranges. Those national ranges are not the village fee, and this page does not add them to the $96.
